Globo changes screen format in analogue broadcast and broadcast logo in widescreen (updated)

Starting today, those who still watch
Globo's programming on the analog signal will notice a small change in the screen format. Now all programming will be broadcast in the 4:3 letterbox format, with the addition of two black bands, one at the top and one at the bottom of the screen, leaving some Pan-Scan behind. This way, all content produced in HD will be shown on Brazilian open channels such as SBT, Band, TV Record, Rede TV! and others. In the future, the black bands will display notices about the shutdown of the analog channel for the entire region of Brazil by the year 2025.

Just a warning: as the person writing this blog no longer has a tube TV at home, since the analog signal is broadcast in 4:3 in Brazil, black bands are also added to the sides of the screen to avoid distortions. In Portugal we broadcast in 4:3 format as private channels (SIC and TVI) recently changed to 16:9 in October 2015. For many years, all textual content of HD broadcasts needed to be located within the 4x3 safe area, which ensures that all televisions have access to the textual information, the station logo and other channels were in the "middle of the screen" in digital broadcasting. With the change, starting March 20, 2016, it will be moved to the bottom right corner to become larger, it will no longer be necessary to respect this limitation. With this, the logo will return to the corner of the screen, as it was at the beginning of HD broadcasts. This change will happen on other analogue channels on other broadcasters in the future.

As anticipated here in the post, this morning, Globo changed the position of the broadcaster's logo to the 16:9 area during the F1 broadcast.
