Turner unveils new visual identity for Boomerang in Latin America and Boomerang in the United States starting of the year

SETÚBAL - Earlier this month, Cartoon Network's sister channel announced the launch of its new look. Turner Broadcasting System decided to standardize all of the Boomerang channels signals worldwide, which includes a new visual identity, new content, and a more diverse programming schedule.

The new Boomerang channel in the US and worldwide is designed to be family-friendly (aimed at teenagers, young adults, and young children), showcasing everything from classic animated shows to the latest releases, as well as live-action series. But what about the channel's new visual identity?

The British agency Mainframe, winner of a pitch promoted by the channel, has a series of videos showing what the new Boomerang could look like. The logo, as well as the vignettes, are practically identical to those used in the European signal, including the Central European version of Boomerang.

When will the company decide on the logo change for Boomerang in the US, which will take effect in September of this year, but this visual identity is unknown. The current logo has been in use since April 2000, when the channel launched separately from Cartoon Network, dedicated to classic cartoons.

This difference between the two visuals ended up confusing many people, especially a portion of Hispanics who believed that the identity would be the same as this version.

Ted Turner's Turner Broadcasting System may know which standard will be adopted by Boomerang worldwide and in the US. According to the response we received, the visual identities used by the second channel are those of Boomerang in Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia; in other words, it's not certain that any of them will be the definitive identity of the channel.

The change in graphics and logo was initially scheduled for March 31, the date chosen by Turner Broadcasting System to present the new Boomerang in the US, but the logo's debut was postponed to early 2015. Meanwhile, here in Brazil, Europe, Africa and more, the programmer's subsidiary remains silent, even though the channel has already begun making changes to its programming. The press office responded to our contact saying that they have not yet been notified of the repositioning.
