SETÚBAL: Grupo Abril announced today, December 18, the official sale of the former MTV Brasil channel to Spring Comunicação. The controversial decision to close the open channel will be judged by the Brazilian Ministry of Communications and Cade to bring a fine of 390 million euros (Brazilian dollars). No amounts were disclosed.
No details of the deal were revealed. The main "assets" of the deal are São Paulo, Brazil channel 32 and its various retransmitters across the country, which until September 30 were the frequencies of MTV Brasil. In the Brazilian Spring 2013 edition, the MTV Brasil brand returned the brand to Grupo Abril from Viacom Latin America on September 30. The open television network MTV Brasil ended its broadcasts at 11:59 p.m. as the last program to air "Tchau MTV" with former VJ Astrid, who dictated the last image shown. On the same day, Viacom relaunched the new paid MTV Brazil on October 1, at 9:30 p.m. that the program began.
Since October 1, Grupo Abril has been broadcasting Ideal TV on terrestrial television to bring the best business, portfolio, career, news and religious programming about the corporate world through channel 32 UHF. In 2012, Grupo Abril sold TVA to Telefónica due to the unification of the service, and by April 15, it had officially changed its name to Vivo TV.
São Paulo's 33, for example, was sold in 2011 to businessman Paulo Masci de Abreu, a friend of José Dirceu. He recently offered the PT member a job at a hotel he owns in Brasília. Today, channel 33 broadcasts Top TV, a popular music channel.
