MTV Brasil has already laid off more than 100 employees and reduced its workforce by 80%.

SETÚBAL: MTV Brasil VJ Bento Ribeiro reported that 80% of the employees at the Brazilian open-air TV channel have already been laid off and that now only the show he hosts, Furo MTV, continues to be broadcast and produced by the channel.

At other times, only reruns and specials are being shown. The interview with Bento was broadcast on Rafinha's YouTube channel.

The presenter also spoke about his experience as an actor in the A Favorita series, on the Brazilian network Rede Globo. "I picked it up gradually. At the time I was very raw," said Bento, who at the time was the target of jokes from his comedy colleagues.

MTV Brasil will cease to belong to Grupo Abril at the end of September this year and, under the management of an American company, Viacom, the owner of the American channel MTV, will become a subscription channel starting October 1 on Brazilian operators.
